Resale Tacoma Vintage and Trendy where do you go?

So the manager/owner of the Runway Fashions contacted me. He is a local business. They are run by a local couple and I can't wait to meet them. What a nice phone call. We had a good chat about what the Tacoman resale buyer and seller need. And as is the Orange philosophy, the more places the seller and buyer have to go, the better. Again, you have to be good at what you do. And reach out to the community. What is nice about resale is the cash is going right back into the hands of locals. If they choose to spend those dollars locally we all benefit. You have to have the Nordstrom of customer service. Nordstrom started in the Northwest, North westerners need good service, they require it. They want you to be local. They want you to have a good product that won't fall apart. You need to stand by your product. When you buy something at Walmart the dollars are not local, they are spent on factories in China, fuel to ship all the products. That makes our dependence on oil even more significant. If you buy local and spend local our dependence on oil is less and we can sustain ourselves without war. Get it? It's a big deal people. So if you have name brand clothes that you don't wear anymore, don't go to Plato's closet that is a public traded company on Wall street. Go to Runway Fashions!!! Educate yourself. Fashion speaks politics, it speaks to your inner self, who you are. We dress to tell people who we are and what we think. I like that. Giving Local and Resale for Christmas

I have really noticed a difference in business this year. This month is usually slow for me, so Orange was expecting another slow December. Attributed to the fact that most shoppers are at the mall buying "new" for gifts. But this year feels different. Especially since the 15th, people got paid and are really doing the local thing. When you put your money where your mouth is, it shows. One nice young guy bought his mom a nice pink pashima. It would of been $50.00 in the store. He bought it for $16.00. Nice savings. The one thing I love about the Northwest, is people really walk the walk. Yes, there is a lot of pompousness, but even those that drive a Prius, are trying to make a difference. My customers are low maintenance, fashion conscience, and nice people. Who want to make a differences. I like that. I don't have to baby them. I help them and they help me. They bring in their fashions they don't wear, and I give them cash or store credit. Fueling the economy, not Goodwill triple digit manager incomes. Don't get me wrong. I don't want to start a arguing thread but Goodwill makes a lot of money. I am a one woman show. I am a single mom. Shopping local at Orange keeps the dollars here, in Tacoma. Thanks thrifters, recyclers, fashionistas, Tacoman's :) Merry Christmas and thank you for keeping it local.

Small business helping others

Tacoma has been a hub for inexpensive vintage and clothing resale for sometime now. We have 6 buy sale trade clothing xchanges here in town. Its a lot for one little town. You have to be really good at what you do. If you succeed at this business, you better be good. In my opinion one of the best places in town is Vanity, so glad we are close! She's right next door to me now. Also Nine Lives Vintage is Down the street by Old Milwaukee Cafe (the bomb cafe!). Next to where the Bead Factory used to be. Vanity's facebook is https://www.facebook.com/vanityfashion Nine Live's facebook is https://www.facebook.com/NineLivesVintageWears I left a note on a new place's facebook page stating "Welcome to the resale world" they erased it. But favorited the page? Not sure what that is about. I think competition is good. Especially if it is fair and their intentions are good. The consumer appreciates it and knows if your intentions are good. It's the karma of running a business. I found a mentor in Melanie at Vanity. She wants me to make money, be successful. Lots of my customers want Orange to be successful. I love my customers. I find the greatest joy in giving the gift of the unusual, vintage, resale, the love of the old to the young. The youth. When I was in college in Salt Lake City. There was a store called Grunts and Postures. I think that store is why I do what I do. Thank you, to you. Their customer service sucked. But the store rocked. My customers like that I will help them, smile at them. We are not too cool for you Tacoma. It's OK if your not a hipster, or all Tattooed head to toe. Christmas in Vintage

Happy Holidays! Just sold a long vintage 70s Levi trench coat. Along with the red plaid she bought she will look awesome. The people that buy vintage and mix it up are my heros. Buy a trench wear with that sweater you bought at the new resale shop along with vintage boots, current jeans. Love it. Yesterday a couple guys came in, very scary, they were the ones who robbed the place up the street. This time of year makes me grateful and sad for those that feel the need to steal. If they had a job, would they feel the need to steal? Lucky I didn't get robbed. I love living here in Tacoma but like every city we have our crooks.
